2011 NANC Counseling and Discipleship Training

There are two courses offered at CFC this Fall through the National Association of Nouthetic Counselors (NANC).

Two Courses Offered:

• Fundamentals of Biblical Counseling

• Unlocking Heart Issues (A new course - you must have completed the NANC Fundamentals course to take Unlocking Heart Issues)

Each course consists of three weekends of training in 2011:

  • September 16-17
  • October 21-22 
  • November 18-19

Location: Christian Family Chapel, 10365 St. Augustine Rd., Jacksonville, FL 32257

  • Friday: 5:00 - 9:45 p.m. (Sign in between 4:00 & 4:30 p.m.)
  • Saturday: 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

A ministry of the National Association of Nouthetic Counselors
The National Association of Nouthetic Counselors is a fellowship of Christian pastors and laymen who have banded together to promote excellence in biblical counseling. NANC was founded in 1975 in service to Christ to address several needs in the biblical counseling community. NANC is first and foremost a certifying organization. The certifying process is rigorous but attainable by even the busiest pastor.

Fundamentals of Biblical Counseling

This course provides the foundational training required to counsel biblically and continue on in the NANC certification process. The topic areas include:
• What Biblical Counseling Really Is
• Comparing the Psychologies to Biblical Counseling
• The Origin & Purpose of Biblical Counseling and Qualifications of a Biblical Counselor
• How to Deal with Life Issues: Trials, Guilt, Anger, Worry and Repentance
• Parenting: Goals, Child Instruction and Discipline
• Video Examples of Real Counseling Cases
• Marriage: Roles, Communication and Sex
• Views of Sanctification
• Idols of the Heart

Unlocking Heart Issues

The Unlocking Heart Issues course will include 30 hours of advanced training in biblical counseling from the leaders in the biblical counseling movement. Topics will include study on: 

• Leading People to the Goodness of God
• Dealing with Rebellious Teens
• Evaluating Alternative Medicine
• Biblical Decision Making
• Complaining God's Way
• Helping the Discouraged
• Counseling the Sexually Abused Person
• Homework that Changes Lives
• Overcoming the Guilt of a Sin-filled Past
• Staying Alive: Sorting Out the Problems and Perils of Personal Ministry
