Ministry Focus

Campus Crusade for Christ - Discipleship & Evangelism at Duke University Durham, N.C. 

Primary Ministry Activities

Our focus is reaching out to the students at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. This means we reach the Christian students to engage in our ministry through Bible studies, discipleship, evangelism and leadership. We also personally engage the lost students on the campus with the Gospel and bring our Christian students alongside of us to equip and encourage them to share the Gospel. Weekly meetings, retreats, & missions opportunities are a significant part of our ministry. This summer we will be leading a team of students going to Sweden as a part of CCC’s summer ministry.

Personal Journey - Call to Christ

Charlie: I was converted during my sophomore year of high school in a guys’ Bible study. Had been attending church during the year previous and one Bible study night we went through the “bridge diagram.” The idea of God’s Son dying for complete forgiveness from my sins finally made sense, and I prayed to receive Christ that night.

Marnie: Became a Christian at the age of five, and grew up in a Christian home. I began attending CFC with my family when I was 12. That is where I really began to understand walking with the Lord and growing in my faith.

Call to Missions Service

As we ministered in Sweden during our 2-year commitment there, we prayerfully sought out the Lord on His calling on our life. His calling became clear to us that His will is for us to be in full-time ministry. Specifically we feel called, in this season, to minister to college students through the ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ. Even though ministry was tough work in Sweden, we had a great peace about what we were doing and what God was doing in us. This peace in our circumstances was the confirmation to our calling to full-time ministry.

The Lord has used numerous ministry experiences in our life to lead us to this point. Either one or both of us have had the opportunities to do ministry in Spain, Italy, Romania, Hungary, Jamaica, Ecuador, Bahamas, New York City, Florida State University, Daytona Beach, and Uppsala, Sweden.  

Prayer Requests

• That we will walk in the Spirit, that Christ would be our focus and our motivation.
• For the Duke students – that God would capture their heart and lives.
• For the Duke-Sweden connection – that God would use Duke students to change the lives of Swedish students.
• That we will adjust to our lives in Durham and working with CCC.
• That our marriage and family will bring glory to God.
