Ministry Focus

New Tribes Mission - To plant churches and make disciples among unreached peoples in Indonesia.  The focus of our ministry is on the Kendawangan tribe, located in South West Borneo.   

Personal Journey - Call to Christ

Both Tim and Andrea were raised in Christian families and have benefited from the influence and teaching of faithful believers in their lives. They met during the second half of their training with New Tribes Mission and were married in March of 2001. They completed their training in 2002 and moved to Indonesia November, 2003.

Call to Missions Service

During Tim’s high school years he took many short-term trips overseas with the youth group at CFC it was there he saw a need of so many who live outside the reach of the gospel. Andrea was burdened with world evangelism as a teenager and began praying that God would use her to share His message with those who did not know Him. Both Tim and Andrea are convinced that there is salvation in no other name but Jesus Christ.

Fruits of Our Labor

Tim & Andrea returned to Indonesia September of 2009 and got right into a process of re-evaluating and re-surveying many areas on the island. This is an effort to help locate new teams into the areas of greatest need. Tim also was involved in helping some other teams to gain language and culture proficiency as well as try to encourage them to fulfill the calling the Lord has placed on them.

A highlight for the Ullums was to spend 5 months living with a fellow missionary who needed the support of partners in order to finish the task of drafting out the New Testament into a tribal language. It was a great privilege to serve the Lord in that way. It is also exciting to see God’s Word becoming available for many tribal believers.

2010 the Ullums moved back into the Jelai river area after a year of being gone. The Ullums have been joined by another family Paul and Irene Pries. The Ullums are doing a lot of the foundational work to make the gospel available in the heart language of the tribal people. An orthography (alphabet) has been concluded and some translated material is already being tested to see how accurate and usable the alphabet will be.
Mid-February Tim & Andrea are going to be evaluated and Lord willing at that point will have sufficient language aptitude to begin translating the Scripture and creating lessons to begin sharing the gospel with our friends and neighbors here in the Jelai river area.

Helping the sick and needy is also a burden the Lord has placed on the Ullums heart. There are lots of opportunities to love and show compassion to people here from medical helps to hygiene and proper child care.

Prayer Requests

• For our relationships with the Lord and deliberate time in the Word and prayer.
• Closeness as a family and wisdom to disciple Dina and Abby as the Lord would have us.
• Finish learning this unwritten tribal language over the next 6 months.
• Beginning efforts at Scripture translation and teaching lessons.
• That close relationships would be established and strengthened with the people we live among.
• Pray for the Ullums partners Paul and Irene Pries and their two children Hannah and Pascal. 
• For continued growth and closeness in our marriage.

Support Needs

As Andrea and I look back on the years we have been serving in Indonesia we can say in praise to God, “I have all and abound. I am full, having received from (faithful supporters like you) the things sent, a sweet smelling aroma, an acceptable sacrifice, well pleasing to God.” Thank you so much for your gifts, prayers, packages, and emails this past year. You have been a blessing to us! Two projects that are before us this year are:

1. Building a Mission Home and Educational Center in Pontianak. This facility helps to serve our outreach effort for all over the island.
2. Building an airstrip in our tribal area. Praise the Lord the JH at CFC has offered to help support the development of an airstrip here in this area.
